New Medical IRB RRSF (Research Review Submission Form) Available
The IRB is in the process of converting each of the submission forms used by researchers to an electronic format for on-line submission. Over the next year, the RRSF, modification request, progress report and AE forms will be converted to an electronic submission format. This means that the completion of the forms will provide an electronic “copy” of your information/documents for the IRB Board members and IRB staff to review. No paper copies will be required. Reaching this goal will be achieved in several steps.
The first step is the ability for you to complete the Medical RRSF electronically. Note: This is only available for submissions to the Medical IRB at this time. We are actively working on the Social/ Behavioral RRSF for release shortly. In the meantime, continue to use the current form for submitting to the Social/Behavioral Board.
The new form is accessed at http://irb.uc.edu/rrsf/ or via the link on the IRB website. The new form has been updated to comply with AAHRPP guidelines and is a precursor to the completely electronic submission format. At this stage in the process you will complete the RRSF electronically, compile it into an RRSF report, print it, gather the required signatures, and submit the hard copy along with the other new protocol submission documents to the IRB office. The next step in the medical new submission process will be a fully electronic process where signatures are obtained electronically and all associated documents will be submitted electronically. It is anticipated that the fully electronic submission of the Medical RRSF and new protocol submission documents will occur in second quarter 2008. Fully electronic submission of modifications and progress reports will occur first and are anticipated to be released in September 2007 and January 2008 respectively.
Required Implementation
The new form is available for use now. We are allowing a grace period for projects on which you are currently working. You may continue to submit the old form through September 30, 2007. After that date, you will be required to submit the new form with new medical protocol submissions.
Please follow these instructions when completing the new Medical RRSF:
· Go to http://irb.uc.edu/rrsf/. (Also listed on the UC IRB website under Submitting New Protocols/ Medical Submission Packet.)
· The RRSF has been separated into several sections. Please make sure to complete each section, as indicated. If you need more room to answer a question, please attach a separate page.
· Be sure to save your work when completed. Once each section has been saved, you will be able to compile the RRSF “report”. You will then be able to print this report for distribution for signatures and submission to the IRB (in hard copy form).
· Note: The system allows you to copy/paste information into the RRSF document you are working on.
