Indemnification Policy

All study protocols reviewed by the UC IRB must have appropriate indemnification for the University of Cincinnati and its IRB before the approval can be released.  The indemnification may be included in the study contract, or provided in a separate letter addressed to the University’s Office of General Counsel (example at http://researchcompliance.uc.edu/irb/indemnstatement.pdf).  Waivers of the indemnification requirement may be sought from the Office of General Counsel using the form provided at http://researchcompliance.uc.edu/irb/indemnwaiver.pdf.  Questions regarding the Indemnification Policy may be directed to the Office of General Counsel at 558-3485.

All studies except NIH-funded must have either an indemnification release or waiver of indemnification release before the IRB will release approvals.  This change is policy is effective for any study submitted on or after March 1, 2009.
