Welcome to the UC Office of Research Integrity (UCORI)

Mission Statement:  UCORI exists to support the generation and dissemination of knowledge by facilitating safe and compliant research and scholarship. We provide support for protocol development, review, and management; regulatory and technical training and tools; outstanding and humane animal care; we investigate allegations of research misconduct; and we serve as a referral service for areas outside of our purview. We are solution oriented and strive to be contributing partners in UC’s research and academic endeavors. 


UCORI is compromised of:

Animal Care and Use: Laboratory Animal Medical Services (LAMS; aka the animal facilities) provides husbandry and veterinary care for all vertebrate animals as well as technical support and training. The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is supported by the IACUC Office which also provides regulatory training and support for researchers and educators.

The Biosafety Office (BSOf) provides regulatory and technical training and support for researchers, manages the select agent program, and supports the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).

The Export Controls Office provides training and guidance to facilitate compliance with export control regulations including travel and the management of information, equipment, and other technology both on campus and externally.

The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) provides training and support for research involving human subjects including Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols and FDA submissions and supports the IRB.

The Radiation Safety Office (RSOf) provides regulatory and technical training and support, supports the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC), and manages all radioactive materials and radiation generating equipment.

The Research Integrity Officer (RIO) manages allegations of research misconduct to protect both the person making the allegation and the person against whom the allegation is made while ensuring that the investigation is thorough and timely.  The RIO manages the iThenticate plagiarism detection software license providing access as appropriate.  The RIO also acts as the Coordinator for Responsible Conduct of Research training, supporting the development, implementation, and tracking of scientific integrity training.
