A Message from the Provosts
At the University of Cincinnati, medical and behavioral research is directed towards a variety of important goals, such as a better understanding of human nature, more effective therapies and treatments for disease, or ways to enhance the quality of life for both the individual and the whole society.
Such research would be impossible without the informed involvement of many volunteers who are willing to participate in research trials. The University as a whole, and its researchers in particular, value the public trust that these volunteers have placed in us. In their interests, we are committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct in our human research programs. More specifically, the University has certified to the federal government that all research conducted here will assure the full protection of human participants and subjects. The University’s research faculty and staff thus follow the ethical principles defined by the Belmont Report (see http://www.hhs.gov/ohrp/humansubjects/guidance/belmont.htm), as well as all rules and regulations set forth by federal, state, and local governments.
